Watching Wrestling Again with a Fresh New Perspective... Hopefully.

Some old habits just never die...

The rush of adrenaline that I feel from watching grown men & women in spandex grappling on stage in a squared circle hasn't gotten old, even as I do. Since I can't live the life of an athlete, I might as well get my fix by watching others square off on TV.

So I'm back to watching wrestling again. Perhaps this time around, I won't let others' cynicism (especially on the Internet, 'cause it's always SRS BZNS on teh interwebs!!!) cloud my judgment or affect my own interest in the pseudo-sport. It's what chased me away once before, & only recently have I been able to flush out my own jaded attitude.

Except for one undeniable "fact": John Cena STILL sucks.

(3/28 UPDATE: Apparently, WWE is fine with it too... LOL.

(Top: One of my old YouTube Monday Night Raw "live commentary" videos from last year, including a rant on The Rock vs. Cena agreeing to square off at the next Wrestlemania. Boy, time sure flies fast. And to think that this was such a HORRIBLE idea...)

Tiger Woods: Just Win, Baby.

The immortal words of the late Al Davis.

That's all it takes for Tiger Woods to become truly relevant again. All the press in the world couldn't hide the fact that Eldrick was an afterthought. His sex scandal is a thing of the past. All that was left was a shell of his old, once-dominant self. The golf game that once made Tiger a multi-multi-multi-millionaire & a cultural icon had seemingly eroded. But for at least one weekend, he finally put the pieces of his life back together (on the golf course, anyway).

Now that he's finally won again, Tiger is the odds on favorite to win one of sports' most prestigious events. And   when he's on his A-game, Woods is the kind of guy who thrives under that kind of pressure.

While he may never become the transcendent figure that he once was pre-scandal, he can still make golf cool again. All things considered, he's still a human being who made bad personal decisions but not one who got away with murder.

Tim Tebow Jets Football Cards: Proof that Sports Cards Have Become Totally Irrelevant

Would you really want to spend some of your hard-earned money on a football card with a fake photo of Tim Tebow in a New York Jets jersey?

When I collected sports cards as a child, you could buy cards with real photos of rookies & athletes in their new jerseys. This was before the rise of the Internet, which meant that such cards were actually valuable property. Card companies would produce "updated" card sets in addition to their regular ones, including this 1987 Fleer baseball card set below (with Mark McGwire, Fred McGriff & Greg Maddux rookie cards):

Nowadays, all card companies have to do is digitally photoshop new jerseys and/or hold contrived photo sessions for a quick cash grab. Ugh.
